APPRENTICE APPLICANT INFORMATION SHEET


A brief description of school and work requirements for electrical apprentices:

SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS: Five (5) Years of Adult Evening School

FIRST YEAR – Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School, Rues Lane, East Brunswick, NJ.  Classes are held three nights per week. September through June.  Apprentice must maintain a grade of 80 or better.

SECOND YEAR – Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School, Rues Lane, East Brunswick, NJ.

THIRD YEAR – Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School, Suttons Lane, Piscataway, NJ.  

FOURTH YEAR – Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School, Rues Lanes, East Brunswick, NJ.  

FIFTH YEAR – Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School, Rues Lane, East Brunswick, NJ.  


WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Apprentice will be required to complete 8000 hours on-the-job training to become Journeyman Electrician.
  1. 8 hour day from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
  2. 40 hour work week.
  3. Apprentice will be required to furnish small tools as listed by the JATC.

Apprentices will be eligible for insurance the first month after having worked 300 hours during an employment period of not more than six consecutive months.

Upon satisfactory completion of one year of school and work, apprentice will be sworn in as an IBEW member.

Apprentice will receive pay increases in six increments during apprenticeship if all requirements are met.

Any of the above requirements are subject to change by the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee or Local Union #456.
